Attire Guidelines

San Gabriel Country Club offers its members and guests exceptional golfing and social opportunities. The Board of Directors, along with both the House and Golf Committees, want all who come to San Gabriel Country Club to be comfortable at this fine club. Proper attire contributes to the overall enjoyment and reputation of the Club.

The following attire is required for all members, their families, and guests when using the golf course, driving range, practice areas, and grounds: (Please note that your particular event may require a more formal dress code.)

GOLFING DRESS CODE
Men

Tailored slacks, Bermuda styled shorts (no shorter than 4" above the center of the back of the knee), knickers with knee socks, collared shirts with sleeves, turtlenecks, and sweaters . Shirts are to be tucked in at all times, except for shirts that are designed to be worn not tucked in. No jeans or denim of any color are permitted. Billed hats and visors are to be worn bill forward. Soft spiked golf shoes are required. No sandal style golf shoes. Metal-ceramic spikes are prohibited.

Women

Golf skirts and Bermuda styled shorts (no shorter than 5" above the center of the back of the knee), tailored slacks, and capris, collared shirts with no sleeves or crew neck shirts with sleeves, blouses, and sweaters. Blouses should be long enough to cover the belt line while at rest. Soft spikes golf shoes are required. Metal-ceramic spikes are prohibited. No sandal style golf shoes. No jean or denim of any color are permitted.

The following is not permitted at any time when golfing:

  • Jeans or denim of any color
  • T-shirts
  • Cargo shorts or cargo pants
  • Camouflage pants
  • Sports jerseys or clothing with large printed phrases or slogans
  • Flip flops of any style
  • Caps or visors are not permitted in the Clubhouse

For Monday golf tournaments, golf attire (see above) is allowed in the Clubhouse.

Clubhouse Dress Code

The following attire is required for all members and their families, as well as guests when using our Clubhouse facilities.   Acceptable Clubhouse attire at a minimum is Golf Course Attire (please see above).  Dress denim is permitted in all areas of the Clubhouse.  Dress denim is defined as denim which is in good repair, properly fitting and without stains, rips or holes.  Shirts must be tucked in unless a straight-cut style or one which is designed to be worn out.
(Please note that some events may require a more formal dress code.)

The following is not permitted at any time:      

  • T-shirts
  • Cargo shorts or cargo pants
  • Camouflage pants
  • Sports jerseys or clothing with large printed phrases or slogans
  • Flip flops of any style
  • Caps or visors are not permitted in the Clubhouse
  • Shorts after 5:00 pm in the Grill

* For Monday golf tournaments, golf course attire (see above) is allowed in the Clubhouse.

Exceptions may be made for themed events (i.e. Luau, Country Western etc.) with prior approval from Club management.

The Club reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who is not attired in a manner which reflects the formal nature of the Club and its membership.

It is the responsibility of the sponsoring member or host to notify each guest of the Club's dress standards. The staff has been instructed to enforce these standards.
